Become a Volunteer

Welcome to Redwood Coast Village (RCV)!  We are excited that you are interested in becoming a volunteer.

You don't have to be a member of the Village to volunteer.  There is no cost to becoming a volunteer and there are no time requirements.  Volunteers can be of any age.  Young volunteers under age 18 will work under adult supervision.  You decide the times and assignments you want to do!

Steps to Becoming a Volunteer

1)  Download the Volunteer Application, complete it, and mail it to A1AA - RCV, 434 7th Street, Eureka, CA  95501 or call (707) 442-3763 x 217 for an application to be mailed to you.

2)  We will contact you to schedule an orientation.

3)  After the orientation you will have a background check.  After that you will be entered into the volunteer database and begin helping your friends and neighbors.

Background Check

For the safety of our staff, Members and Volunteers, age 18 and over, will have background checks from a nationally recognized security company, “Verified Volunteers,” which provides online volunteer screening and background checks for nonprofits and service organizations.

Verified Volunteers

After you apply to be an RCV Member or Volunteer, you will either do the background check during the orientation or receive an online invitation to complete the application on your own computer.  There is no charge to you (but you can opt to pay the $35 fee if you like).

You will be asked to enter your name and other information including your Social Security number.  This is confidential and RCV staff will have no ongoing access to your Social Security number.  (We only see the information if members an volunteers can get assistance with this process from the staff at the RCV Office.)
